Gib is the Chairman of the Entrepreneurs' Foundation, an organization he founded in 1997, which applies the concepts of venture capital to philanthropy. Gib is also a partner emeritus at the Mayfield Fund. Having joined the firm in 1970, the first year of the partnership's existence, he is the longest-standing member of the Mayfield team. Over the years he has been involved in many of the firm's investments, including 3Com (COMS), Latitude Communications (LATD), MIPS Computer Systems, Spectralink Corporation (SLNK), and Simplex Solutions (SPLX). He oversees Mayfield's legacy of core and team building, ensuring that these attributes are not lost as new partners join the firm. Versatile and experienced, Gib has the ability to work with companies in diverse technologies and in all phases of their growth. In 2000 Gib received the John W. Gardner Leadership Award from the American Leadership Forum, and he was recognized by the San Jose Mercury News as one of The Millennium 100. In 1999, Gib was awarded the American Spirit Award from the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), which recognizes members who have shown philanthropic leadership by applying their business skills, knowledge, expertise and resources to make an outstanding contribution to society. In addition he received the Ernst & Young Distinguished Leadership Award given to someone whose leadership has built an organization characterized by a strong sense of community involvement. Prior to joining Mayfield, Gib worked for Hewlett-Packard for several years, first as manager of computer systems and later as manager of interdivisional sales. Gib Myers earned a B.S. in Engineering from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business. |
