Volunteer Business Advisors have a chance to give back to the community by helping small businesses grow, create jobs, and strengthen their communities. Unlike traditional volunteerism, business advising uses the specific skills that professionals like you have, to provide services to those who are unable to afford them.
Share Your Skills And Impact Your Community! Do You Have:
- 10+ years broad business management and/or ownership experience
- Functional expertise in areas such as: marketing, sales, finance, manufacturing, operations and general management
- Interest in local economic development and entrepreneurship
- Commitment to take the time required to prepare for or attend any PCV offering that the advisor elects to participate in
- Willingness to participate in an annual evaluation (phone interviews, surveys, etc.) for the purpose of improving the advising program at PCV
- Start-up or small business experience is helpful, but not required
Ways For You To Get Involved:
- Serve as a one-on-one Mentor
- Participate in Strategy Roundtable Sessions, each tailored to a business’ current challenges and needs
- Open your network to entrepreneurs and fellow Advisors
- Serve as an expert panelist at a PCV’s entrepreneur educational event
- Sponsor PCV’s Annual Event as an in-kind, fiscal or corporate sponsor

Liz Einbinder is a Public Relations professional with over 15 years’ experience in strategy, writing, planning, overseeing programs and budgets, and managing agencies and their internal staff. Liz’s expertise and experience lie mainly in the fields of restaurants, food and technology, where she focuses on strategy, corporate positioning, materials development and new market exposure.
Liz is the founder of Liz Einbinder Consulting, where she has worked as a consultant with companies such an American Express, BabyCenter, eBay, Intel, Intuit, Jardiniere Restaurant and OpenTable, among others. Liz is currently working as a publicist for Chef Traci Des Jardines and her award-winning restaurants, Jardiniere, Manzanita, Mijita and Public House.
In addition to her extensive experience in consulting and PR, Liz is also a volunteer tour guide for San Francisco City Guides, where she is also a member of the Board of Directors and head of the marketing committee. Liz holds a BA in Liberal Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Gregory Johnson is a Bay Area investment management professional with over 30 years’ experience. He is currently a partner at Clayton Partners, LLC, an opportunistic value investment firm that manages a private investment partnership and individual separate accounts. Clayton Partners takes a private equity approach to investing in the public markets and has a shareholder friendly management team that focuses on long-term value creation, of which Gregory is a part of.
Prior to Clayton Partners, LLC, Gregory held executive level positions at GWJ Enterprises and CMA Asset Management. Gregory also has significant experience in fine food and wine retail and distribution, holding senior positions at companies like Columbus Distributing, Auntie Pasta and La Ferme Beujolaise.
Gregory has a BA in Psychology from the University of Iowa and an MSA in Accounting from Georgetown University.
Hulya Koc is an innovative Bay Area consultant, advisor and angel investor. She started ChildCare Careers from the ground up and grew it to be the largest staffing company in the US solely focused on the education field. Hulya is also the Co-Founder of the Turkish-American Business Connection, which advances the interests of Turkish-American businessmen and businesswomen, entrepreneurs and professionals in various industries throughout Silicon Valley.
Currently, Hulya is an angel investor with Keiretsu Forum, which is the world’s largest angel investor network, and is an active supporter of Women Investing in and Supporting Entrepreneurs (WISE). In addition to working as a PCV advisor, Hulya is also an advisor for the SCORE Association, where she is able to share her knowledge and experience with even more Bay Area entrepreneurs.
Hulya holds a BBA in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut and a graduate degree in Production Management from the Istanbul Acedemy of Economics & Management Sciences, where she graduated with high honors.
William H. Parker
William H. Parker
William Parker coaches and grows new business start-ups and multi-billion dollar Fortune 100 companies through incisive performance analysis and successful strategy development and execution. His areas of expertise include operations and financial management, strategic planning, product development and marketing. William has over 25 years of professional experience working for companies such as K-Mart, Old Navy, Gap Inc. and Gateway and now serves at the President and CEO of Tara Jayde Capital Partners.
William has a BA in Professional Studies with an emphasis in business management and economics from Empire State College in New York. In addition to volunteering as a PCV Advisor, William is also a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, a Merchant Partner at Kairos Capital Partners and a mentor at the Chairman’s Roundtable of San Diego.
Ruth Ross is a strategic Human Resource executive with over 30 years of experience with top Fortune 100 companies. Ruth’s expertise includes leading organizations through times of change, managing mergers and acquisitions, cross-business collaboration, creating award-winning retention programs, and employment branding. Ruth also serves as a strategic thought partner and coach to all levels of management from “C-suite” to first level managers.
Ruth is a Principal at R Squared Resources, which focuses on educating and training individuals in management positions to become better leaders with more productive, engaged workforces. At R Squared Resources, Ruth offers a variety of training seminars to managers at various levels, giving them the tools they need to be successful in their roles. Ruth is also a frequent speaker on HR related topics including, but not limited to, culture, leadership, call to action and employee engagement. In addition to her work at R Squared, Ruth is also currently writing a book called "Workplace Bulling: Spot It, Stop It, Come Out On Top".
Prior to working at R Squared Resources, Ruth held executive roles in Human Resources at companies such as Wells Fargo, Charles Schwab, Estee Lauder and American Express. Ruth holds a BS in Human Development & Business from Syracuse University and an MS in Counseling from Northeastern University.
Robert Sher is the founding principal of CEO to CEO, a firm that improves the skills of chief executives of mid-market companies who are navigating major shifts in their business or marketplace. CEO to CEO has worked with already-successful chief executives of such companies as GoGrid, GSC Logistics, Triangle Software, and Hanson Bridgett, LLP, helping them hone their leadership, business and interpersonal skills to make them even more effective leaders.
Before launching CEO to CEO, he was CEO of a publishing company for more than 20 years. Robert is a Forbes.com columnist , and has authored the book, “The Feel of the Deal; How I Built my Company through Acquisitions” and has taught Entrepreneurship to Executive MBA candidates at St. Mary’s College.
Robert earned his MBA at St. Mary’s College of California, where he was awarded the Jack Saloma Award for student citizenship.
Sanjay Sinha is a Relationship Manager in the Commercial Banking Group at California Bank & Trust. He has broad based experience in the financial services industry, including business development, relationship management and credit administration. In addition to volunteering his time at PCV and being awarded the 2012 Advisor of the Year award, Sanjay is a Board member at CityCar Share, Advisory Board member at Center for Regional Change at University of California – Davis and pro-bono Deputy CFO at MicroCredit Enterprises.
Sanjay has a BS in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and an MBA in Finance from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.
