Salary: $65k – $75k, dependent on work experience and geography

As a mission-driven lender, we invest in diverse small businesses across the state of California to help them grow and strengthen their practices. You’ll work with our team to underwrite and monitor the organization’s growing portfolio of loans for California small businesses, focused on expanding access to capital and advising for Black and Brown entrepreneurs.
Who We Are
PCV is a 24-year-old nonprofit CDFI that is invested in the success of historically excluded communities and small business owners to build and grow their businesses, create good quality jobs that address racial and gender wealth gaps, and build community wealth for shared prosperity. Our approach is unique. PCV’s Small Business Lending and Advising teams connect entrepreneurs to the pre- and post-investment expertise, and restorative capital they need to grow their businesses to help local economies thrive. Our research effort supports our advancement of best practices for inclusive underwriting, annual impact analysis, that allows us to assess our impact with small business clients, and design increasingly effective products and services for the communities we serve.
Why You’re Needed
We’re a dynamic nonprofit organization with a growing Loan Fund that supports more and more small businesses with loans and pro bono mentoring, creating good jobs in low-and-moderate income communities. You will be an integral part of the finance team who is skilled in non-profit accounting, system improvement, project management, and passionate about investing in underserved communities.
- Assist outsourced accounting team
- Manage company credit card reporting
- Track and manage accounts payable invoices through entry to bill.com
- Manage invoice and payment interface with our Lending software
- Assist in reconciling Lending portfolio with accounting system
- Assist Lending team with reporting
- Verify all Lending clients and transactions are accurately entered in QuickBooks
- Assist in management and reconciliation of restricted grant budgets
- Support grant compliance requests
Other – Produce financial reporting, assist with monthly close and annual audit, perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice – by the Associate Dir. of Finance or Director of Finance.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Major in accounting or business with emphasis in accounting is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel.
- Self-starter willing to take initiative, but also works well in a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong ability to multi-task
- Excellent computer skills (including knowledge of Word and Outlook)
- A minimum of 1 year experience in accounting is required, 2 years preferred.
This position will be based at our headquarters in Oakland long-term, due to the coordination aspects of this role. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic this role will be mostly remote, with occasional office check-ins to support team operations.
