Showcase Hawaii

“I always feels rejuvenated [after speaking with my PCV advisor], and that whatever challenge or burden that was troubling us has been lifted. We are so thankful to Pacific Community Ventures for this opportunity.”

Laurie Nunez and her husband Wayne are the owners of Showcase Hawaii Productions, a TV production company that produces “Showcase Hawaii”, Hawaii’s first and only home shopping TV show and e-commerce platform. Based out of Honolulu, the program highlights Hawaii-inspired products that viewers can buy online 24/7 or call in to their toll free or local phone number. When Laurie was presented with an opportunity to increase the number of TV episodes per month and broadcast three times a day, she realized that she would need help with an online marketing and e-commerce strategy to meet new demands. Before they could even begin work on their long-term plans, the Nunezes had to deal with fallout from the COVID crisis and a decrease in sales.

Their supply chain was severely impacted when their vendors shut down due to the pandemic. Laurie found Pacific Community Ventures through our partnership with Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, and we matched her with Bill, a business coach and founder of a successful multi-million dollar e-commerce company. Bill advised the Nunezes to imagine their on-hand inventory as piles of cash, coaching them on strategies and determining a discounted rate to create much needed cash-flow so the business could survive. With this approach they are able to achieve the company’s vision, be more efficient and create useful tools for optimization. After each meeting with Bill, Laurie says she “always feels rejuvenated, and that whatever challenge or burden that was troubling us has been lifted. We are so thankful to Pacific Community Ventures for this opportunity and especially to our PCV Relationship Manager, Daniel Wada for taking the time to understand our business, listening to our needs, and connecting us to Bill.”
