Sherry Bijan is a diverse executive, a seasoned veteran of the securities industry, and an independent registered investment advisor, based in San Francisco and Manhattan. Early in her career, she adopted a philosophy of sustainable, impact investing. Through financial planning, she has practiced to ensure the financial fitness of her clients, with a focus on sound long-term investment options and retirement planning.
A strong, tireless advocate for small business, in tandem with her primary career in finance, Sherry was instrumental in the successful launch and 10 year operation of a family restaurant in Palo Alto, CA. Having garnered the experience of managing a small retail business and in conjunction with running a professional practice of investment management, in 2006 Sherry was hired on as the President and Executive Director of the Palo Alto Business & Professional Association, a membership organization that manages the business improvement district and serves as the conduit to City Hall. She was instrumental in bringing about many initiatives and improvements to the district during her 4 years tenure.
Sherry is community driven and has developed and promoted several community benefit initiatives. She served on the Board of Directors of the Accel Foundation in Palo Alto, the mission of which was to fund and develop the athletic facilities at the local high schools. Sherry was the force behind bringing Palo Alto High School in compliance with Title IX rules through initiating and fostering a Varsity girls Lacrosse program, and the development of a playing field through a bond measure.
Sherry also has served on the Advisory Board of Community Grows, a San Francisco intercity program that promotes gardening and healthy eating at schools within San Francisco’s Western Addition. Upon relocating to San Francisco in 2013, Sherry promptly sought out local organizations that would provide the gateway for her continued passion in the advancement and development of small business. She has been affiliated with the BusinessAdvising.org arm of Pacific Community Ventures and is the 2015 recipient of the Small Business
Champion award. She has participated in a pilot program and continues as an active Advisor on the NerdWallet online platform through an alliance with BusinessAdvising.org.
