Enter Portland entrepreneur Pallavi Pande’s line of eco-friendly tableware, Dtocs, with products made with palm leaves. “People are spending more time educating themselves on eco-conscious brands to support,” says Pande, pictured above with her family. The leaves, which come from the betel nut tree, fall naturally after completing a full life cycle and are collected by local majority female farmers in India for further processing . No tree is harmed in the production of the plates, and they compost in four to six weeks. We can’t solve World problems but can rescue renewable resources like fallen leaves available to solve the problem of cheap paper and toxic plastic single use disposables that end up in the ocean everyday.
