Since joining our Advising program, We Care Tees has seen an 85% increase in revenue.
Ramahn Wilder is the owner of We Care Tees, an online t-shirt and apparel store based in Akron, Ohio. Ramahn donates 10% of his company’s proceeds to nonprofit organizations, and participates in philanthropic activities such as reading to students at public schools and sitting on the board of the West Akron 5k.
Ramahn discovered Pacific Community Ventures’ Business Advising program through its partnership with the eBay Retail Revival Program. eBay is a partner of ours, and was founded with the belief that commerce can be a force for positive change. Their team members accelerate this change by volunteering with PCV as small business advisors. By partnering with PCV as a company, eBay is making a meaningful difference for entrepreneurs enlivening local economies and creating good jobs for working people across America.
Ramahn requested help to better understand who his target market was, and how to market to it. We matched Ramahn with advisor Eric Fleishman, a Junior Associate – Data Analytics. Eric’s desire to work with a social enterprise and skills in data analytics, identifying markets, and crafting a company’s message made for a phenomenal fit with Ramahn.
Eric provided Ramahn a business model canvasing tool to better understand his value proposition to customers, and within the first two weeks of meeting, Ramahn said, “I am getting a clearer understanding of my target market. I am learning and having fun!” During a phone call check with our team, Ramahn shared “Eric has helped me so much to see things differently.”
Since being paired with Eric, Ramahn has formed a partnership with the Akron University Marketing Department and a minor league baseball team, as well as secured funding with the John S. Knight Foundation. We Care Tees has made great traction and has seen an 85% increase in revenue in 2018! Eric commented on their partnership saying, “We both have thoroughly enjoyed the match.” Ramahn and Eric have rated their match satisfaction a 10 out of 10 on each of their survey responses and continue to connect for 5 or more hours a month.
