The Hiring Primer

Attract qualified, committed candidates who can run a strong, profitable business from the day they start

Hiring Starts with Expectations

Bread SRSLY is a gluten-free sourdough bakery started in 2011 in San Francisco. When founder Sadie Scheffer started hiring, she says “I was copying job descriptions from more established businesses, thinking they knew best."

But after moving production in-house and hiring a whole new team, Scheffer realized that writing her own job descriptions was better – and easier, too. Why? A great job description flows from first clarifying your unique hiring goals. What new or similar skills do you need for the business? And if you’re open to entry-level employees, what kind of mentorship will they need from you? According to Sadie, “when a candidate reads your job description, they should learn who you are and what it’s like to work at your company. They should be able to really see themselves grow in the role.

“It takes an extra hour or two to put goals in writing,” says Sadie, “but the investment pays off almost immediately when you make a great hire.”
